Spirit of Service Award

Born in Bremerhaven, Germany, Chris is the child of Terry and Michaela Anderson. After graduating from Albert Gallatin High School in 2007, Chris served in the wars in Iraq from 2008 to 2009 and in Afghanistan from 2011 to 2012–experiences that deeply shaped his perspective and commitment to service.
His journey began with a sense of adventure and duty, serving in the United States Army as an airborne infantryman from 2006 to 2014. During this time, he met his future bride, Jessica, and they entered into the sacrament of marriage on April 5, 2010. Jessica has been a cornerstone of Chris’ life and spiritual journey. Her unwavering support has been instrumental in his path. Their marriage is a beautiful testament to the intertwining of love, faith, and service. Together, they navigate the challenges and joys of life, drawing strength from one another.
Following his military service, Chris pursued further education at Rosedale Technical College, earning an Associate degree in Automotive Sciences in 2016. His passion for faith and ministry then led him to Seton Hill University, where he obtained a bachelor’s degree in Pastoral Ministry in 2020. Continuing his theological studies, he will earn a master’s degree in Systematic Theology from the Jesuit School of Theology in 2025.
Faith is the foundation of Chris’ life. As a Permanent Diaconal Aspirant for the Diocese of Greensburg, he has embraced various roles within his parishes, including Coordinator of Religious Education, Pastoral Associate, and R.C.I.A. Coordinator. His commitment to nurturing faith and community led him to Geibel Catholic Junior-Senior High School, where he has been inspiring young minds as a Theology instructor and Campus Minister since 2020.
His mother, Michaela, has been a significant influence on Chris’ spirituality. Her kindness and openness have profoundly shaped his understanding of faith and compassion. Michaela’s nurturing spirit and support have been a guiding light, instilling in him the values of empathy and service.
Throughout his journey, Chris embodies the values of family, faith, and freedom. His marital, military, and Church experiences are deeply interconnected, each aspect supporting and enriching the others. He cherishes the love and support of his family, the strength of his faith, and the freedom to serve and uplift his community. His story is a testament to the power of dedication, love, and tireless faith.
