Geibel Athletics are open to all students with academic eligibility. The dedicated, experienced coaching staff teaches "Gators" the importance of teamwork, respect for the games and how to develop their athletic abilities on and off the playing field.

The Athletic program at Geibel works in conjunction with all other aspects of the school. It has been developed as an extension of the education achieved in the classroom setting. It offers a wide range of activities that are greater in number than most institutions comparable in size to Geibel.

Students at Geibel may select from twelve inter-scholastic varsity sports that compete in the Western Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic League (WPIAL), a district of the state-wide Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association (PIAA). Because of this affiliation, and the shared philosophy of all member schools, varsity athletics are highly competitive in nature; varsity teams must therefore be prepared thoroughly and extensively. These students are offered educational opportunities that are provided in no other setting, and skills are developed so that teams will have opportunities to win.

Developmental programs in the form of junior varsity, freshman, and reserve teams are also present at Geibel. They are less competitive and more developmental in structure, but still require an extensive time commitment. In fact, they are the groundwork for later varsity competition by those that develop the skills necessary to compete at that level.
